Hello
After all the rain we have had recently, the last few days of dry weather, gave us almost perfect conditions for the seventh handicap.
Although the sun was shining bright in clear blue skies, there was a very cold breeze, which made standing about a bit on the chilly side.
The conditions under foot were generally very good, but due to the hard overnight frost, a few areas of mud had frozen into uneven and rutted ground. Thankfully, these few areas could be avoided.
Not so many running this time as some had gone down to Devon for the Grizzly All Terrain 20 miler, while others also headed west to the Bath Half Marathon. Injuries also knocked out a couple of the regulars.
During the last race, while she was running at Tadley, Jane's course record came under attack from Ian , but today, after another very strong run, she came up with another PB of 55:11, an improvement of 1 min 28 secs. This stretched her advantage on the course record to 1 min 36 Secs.
I would like to know what the Davies are eating because Jane's husband Phil also improved his PB by 1 min 48 secs. Also improving PB's were Steve, Stuart and Tom . Congratulations to Madeline who ventured onto the course for the first time and was still smiling at the finish.
Adrian was still recovering from the 50 mile Thames Trot, hence the slow time for him, while Ian did 15 miles yesterday in preparation for the Boston Marathon, and his little legs were not up to chasing Jane today! Peter was still recovering from last weeks Shropshire South Circular, where he had food poisoning, and welcome back to John, who had returned after a few weeks resting. Jass, Kerri and Eddie were treating it as the last main training run before the Reading Half.
